Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative said the incident made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
